I saw The Fame Wednesday night at T.T. the Bears. They were good garagey-sounding rock and they all had REALLY nice hair, too...no doubt.

Thursday 08/04/05 somewhere here in Boston [no venue has been announced yet], Elkland is playing with Nightmare of You which should be good. These guys like synthesizers for real, and Nightmare is like Ultragrrl's new favorite band [p.s.--buy their new EP on her site].



Kings of Leon play with The Helio Sequence and The Secret Machines are The Paradise on Friday August 5th. All three of the bands I am into, but you, not that much, but enough to go out and see them.

Man, seriously Lady Sovereign is the fucking shit right now. I can not stop listening to her jams, but unfortunately I only have three of them ["Cha-Ching," "Tango" and "The Broom"]. Thanks to Boom Selection for that rock. Also, I found out a few days too late that she was in NYC. Fuck fuck fuck, hopefully I still can nab an interview with her.

Oh yeah, hey Sony, great job on getting caught on payola charges! I'll play some J. Lo on my itunes if you give me 5 ipods and a jet ski.

I did my best to collect all of these 7"'s throughout the last couple years of high school & my year in DC. Word. Greg & I are totally rocking out to the CD comp of it right now. Highlights:

-The Get Up Kids. The original version of "I'm a Loner Dottie, A Rebel." So classic...



-Still Life. "Looks Like Tomorrrow" is one of the best songs EVER.



-Very Secretary. I interviewed 3 of the members of the band seperately for my old zine, but as I was waiting for their violinist to get back to me, the band had already broken up.



-Rainer Maria. Still completely fucking awesome....

I went out with Greg, Hilary and Tim last night to see Charlie & the Chocolate Factory 2k5 remix last night at the Boston Common Loews. Totally good stuff, although Charlie/Johnny Depp seemed a bit goofy and out of it. The best part of the film were the oompaloompa song & dance numbers--I was totally shitting myself over them.

So this weekend was pretty rad. Friday night I did nothing and it was nothing short of great. Saturday, I took the Fung Wah to NYC around 10 to check out Siren Fest 2k5 on Coney Island, but I missed a bunch of the bands that I wanted to see, like The Dears, Morningwood and Nine Black Alps. I did catch Q and Not U, Brendan Benson and Mates of State though. Mates played the tqo songs from them I liked, but they seemed to play forever, so I strolled to the end of the street with my new superbud. Other highlights of the day include:

-the young girl who vomited all over a random woman's foot
-the rock on the Cyclone
-talking about music with Cameron
-drinking in Brooklyn [oddly enough, Elliott Smith used to hang there when he lived in there]
-the two random dudes who talked to us [Kelly and James] and even weirder is how they BOTH work in the music industry



Tonight I will make up for missing Nine Black Alps on Saturday by seeing them at Great Scott in Allston. Good stuff....

I've been in Boston for over a week now, and I've come to conclusions on a number of things:

-I do not like my neighborhood, Jamaica Plain. Too granola and hippie for me.
-The public transit system here is like 1000 times better than Septa in Philly.
-Walking around the city is pretty sweet, as things are fairly close together

I do plan on moving into another neighnorhood in a couple of months, but I just need to find the perfect place and all of that.



I went to my first Boston show Tuesday night. Caesars played at The Paradise, which is right off of the B line. It was a good show, and I met up with one of my work's interns. I was really surprised at how early the show started, like, I decided to roll in at 9:30 so I could see the last two bands, and as I walk in, there are Caesars almost done setting up.



Siren Fest is this weekend, and despite it normally being too crowded and way too hot, I am totally pumped to go. I mean, it's free, a great place too see friends and bands, and seriously, what's more fun than riding the Cyclone while drinking a 40? Right...

Plus, Q and Not U is breaking up soon [who are playing], along with Dungen, The Dears, Nine Black Alps, the Detachment Kit, and yeah a lot more.

So guys I am in Boston now and things have been way hectic the past few weeks due to moving and all of that, but regular updates will begin again soon. I just started working for Planetary Group as a college radio promoter.

The Orioles have been playing like a bunch of bums lately.
